"When I moved to Wales Caradoc arrived from a local
sanctuary after a lifetime of hard work as a draught horse. He joined the herd
of semi feral Falabella ponies, inherited with the farm, with great enthusiasm,
and moves carefully around with them like a gentle giant in their midst. He is
different from the flighty, warm blooded horses I am used to, being heavy,
grounded and thoughtful, and given to sighing in a forgiving if slightly
exasperated way when he encounters the limits of human intelligence. He embodies
to me the many generations of stoic horses who undertook the work to build
farms and empires with unquestioning fortitude. This bronze is mounted on
silver slate from the long disused quarry on the farm, which would have been
extracted with the help of his forbears.” - Jess Wallace
