Creffield’s Cathedral series is arguably his best known. The remarkable series of works was the result of a commission from the Arts Council, and the eventual exhibition toured 14 different public galleries across England. York was one of the artist’s favourite subjects. In his catalogue notes, Creffield remarks; “Mighty York. So big – so light…. It feels like a palace and is magnificent.”
