Tom Wood: Recent Paintings

Portland Gallery is delighted to present a new body of works by Tom Wood. In his second exhibition with us, we will be showcasing fifteen mixed media paintings on the lower ground floor of the gallery.

With works painted over the last two years, this exhibition focuses on Wood’s interest and connection to nature, celebrating the natural world whilst incorporating still life motifs throughout. He uses collage elements and stencils to build layers of patterns, textures and objects that often change from his initial drawings:

“Sometimes it takes a while for a painting to reveal itself, paradoxically you’re revealing meaning as you lay on more layers. A lovely contradictory process.” – Tom Wood
