Jonathan Kenworthy’s first trip to Kenya was in 1965 and
soon after he began creating sculptures of East African Nomads, captivated by
their independent spirit and resilient nature. The sculpture depicts three
Samburu people, a Nilotic group of north-central Kenya and are semi-nomadic
pastoralists. They stand beneath the quintessential acacia tree, known for its
resilient adaptability.
