Martyn Brewster: To The Sea

Portland Gallery is proud to present To The Sea by Martyn Brewster. In his second exhibition with us, we will be showcasing thirty coastal paintings, drawings and collages on the first floor of the gallery.

With works covering the past twenty years, To The Sea focuses on Brewster’s connection to coastlines, cliffs and beaches, having lived most of his adult life in close proximity to the English coast:

“The landscape and particularly the coastline has informed and inspired much of my work, directly and indirectly, from literal views in drawings made on location to many more abstract series. The endless shapes and compositional possibilities, the wonderful colours, the ever-changing weather, the shadows and light all play their part.” - Martyn Brewster
