This painting portrays the tranquil streets within the village of Corrie on the Isle of Arran. Milne moved to the highlands and lived in Corrie from the 1940s until the end of his life in 1957, where he painted the village and nearby harbour on many occasion. This oil brilliantly captures Milne’s skilled use of colour, light and shadow, inspired heavily by the Impressionists and Scottish Colourists.
