This is a...'Cider orchards are lovely subject matter. They change through the seasons - skeletal trees in the winter, dazzling blossom in spring and abundant fruit in the autumn. This is a short walk from where we live on the Somerset Levels and I often cycle along this path in Pitney through the trees up to Wood Birds Hill. On this traditional white gesso ground, light reflects back through the translucent glazes of egg tempera paint, and I love painting the sun.' - James Lynch
