With
Supper - the course of Time I am making reference to Leonardo's Last
Supper and also the daily event of sharing meals with family or friends, here
at a dinner party. But this ritual that has occurred since Man’s early
existence also relates to my preoccupation with time. For example the layering
of time through memory and deja vu. Thus the infants in the painting will
perhaps in time sit at the same table with their own friends and families as it
echoes down to the generations to come, or they might be reflections of the
present diners at an earlier age. The musicians in the mirror might be making
reference to the Dance to the Music of Time and the shells and fossils in the
cabinet and the lilies above speak of layers of time. Even the ice cream
sundaes are transient in their very short life, to be eaten or to melt.
