“It is light that excites me and drives me to pick up my brushes and paint. My paintings are a celebration of light and I am fascinated by exploring tonal relationships in order to express the particular light effect before me. I like to paint solely from nature and in natural light. I work on the spot and enjoy being in the elements to capture what I see and feel. I enjoy capturing moods and atmosphere and to do this I love to tackle the challenge outdoors”. - Daisy Sims Hilditch

Daisy trained at Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence. At the age of 18, Daisy’s portrait of her grandfather was selected to be exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery as part of the Sunday Telegraph’s school’s prize. Daisy has exhibited widely including at the BP Portrait Award 2016 (at the National Portrait Gallery) with her portrait 'Alessandra'. Her first exhibition at Portland Gallery, 'From London to the Alps' was held in January 2022 and was a sell-out success, this was followed by 'Into the Light' held in 2023 which was equally well received. Other recent group exhibitions include the Royal Institute of Oil painters, The Royal Society of Marine artists and The Royal Society of British artists (where she won the ‘Gordon Hulson Memorial Prize’ for excellence in draftsmanship, variety and exploration). Daisy also won the ‘Golden Buzzer Prize’ at The Fine Art Commissions ‘Fresh Paint’ exhibition for her painting of the Thames. Daisy primarily lives and works in London, but travels extensively throughout the year.
