Historically children worked on the land, often as shepherds
and in some cultures they still do, taking the sheep out to graze. It is also a
religious symbol in many cultures – even the pope had a young lamb round his
neck when he was celebrating a recent Easter. But perhaps the black crows and
the wheat fields at either side are making a reference to Vincent van Gogh.
