I see my newspaper works as history paintings recording
events that are happening on a particular day or weekend, sometimes chosen at
random, or to mark certain events. Interestingly the format of the newspapers themselves
have changed considerably during the time I have been creating these pieces;
most broadsheets have become tabloids and are full of colour whereas in the
early works they were mainly black and white. Now they all seem to cover gossip
and scandal although originally the broadsheets only wrote about more serious
matters.
